Is quantity of life better than quality of life?
The Centers for Disease Control, or CDC, recently reported that the average American may live longer, with a child born in 2009 expected to live 78.7 years. This is higher than previous findings that a child born in 2008 may live to be 78.1 years. Is this longer life really better though? A researcher from Yale University reports that this longer life may just be the result of better care for chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes. Because of this, the longer length of life may involve a lower quality of life-years struggling with the health issues related with such chronic disease. Therefore, the best way to live long and prosper is to eat right, stay active, and prevent chronic disease so you can have a quantity and quality of years in your life!
