New insurance better for those with diabetes

Starting on January 1, 2014, new health insurance packages will better serve those with diabetes and those at risk for diabetes.  Under the new insurance, diabetes screenings will be offered free so people can find out if they have diabetes and get care if needed.  Also, those with diabetes cannot be denied insurance due to their pre-existing disease and they will not have to pay more to be covered by insurance.

She is the co-author of “Diet Therapy in Advanced Practice Nursing” (McGraw Hill, 2014) and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Nutrition at the University of California San Francisco and University of San Diego’s graduate schools of nursing.

Dr. Beverly S. Adler, PhD, CDE (aka “Dr. Bev”) is a clinical psychologist and certified diabetes educator, author and speaker. She specializes treating the emotional issues of people with diabetes.
